Custom etched glass railings by AccuRailing. Maybe you’ve got a great view if you look straight out from your deck or balcony, but to the sides, the decks of nearby neighbors are a little too close for comfort. Try clear glass for the side that looks out over your view, and then choose the privacy of etched on the sides facing your neighbors’ decks. Etched glass is also an option if you just have a cool design in mind that you’d enjoy seeing brought to life on your deck.

A custom deck railing certainly makes a memorable impression and can even enhance a good view. On this one, made from mahogany, the mortise-and-tenon balisters and newel posts were custom turned, and accent carvings were added to the posts. While all the handwork doubtlessly made this deck upgrade expensive, if you’ve got a million dollar view, then it makes sense to invest in a high quality deck that will last for a long time to come.

Another option for railings that won't block your view is cable railings. They are flexible and can be used with many different varieties of wood or metal post and rail components as well as tensioning hardware. Cables can run horizontally or vertically. Of course, this style is not compatible with all architectural styles.
